Some staff members who were enthusiastic enough to explore our breathtaking backyard (Moraine Lake in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, Banff National Park) headed out in four canoes. Our convoy headed across the lake towards its source; the glacial runoff from the peaks above.
As the group approached the mouth of the lake, one of our paddlers spotted a bald eagle perched above the running water. It appeared to be hunting and didn’t seem to mind our presence. There have been several eagle sightings in recent weeks and guests walking the Lakeshore Trail or enjoying a relaxing paddle, as our group was, have come away with great snap shots of the majestic bird. The lake is filling more and more each day, sometimes as much as a canoe-length, making our backyard that much more beautiful. We’ll keep you posted!
