Moraine Lake Lodge

Located in the Valley of the Ten Peaks in Banff National Park, Moraine Lake is crowned by ten notable peaks. A true bucket list item, Moraine Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. It was even featured on the back of an old $20 Canadian bill at one time!  The lake’s stunning turquoise colour is created from glacial silt and is one of the most photographed lakes in the Canadian Rockies.

PLEASE NOTE: Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles year-round. Parks Canada shuttles, Roam Public Transit, and commercial buses are permitted from June to mid-October.

Day Visits

What better way to experience the beauty of Moraine Lake than gliding through its serene blue waters on a canoe? Moraine Lake Lodge offers high-quality canoe rentals to visitors at our canoe dock from mid-June to mid-September.

Starting from $140.00 CAD plus tax per canoe for a one-hour rental.
Paddle, life jackets, and basic instructions are provided.

Please Note

• Each canoe can accommodate two to three people
• Canoes are available on a first-come, first-served basis (we do not take reservations)
• Unfortunately, pets are not permitted in the canoes
• Due to water levels, our canoe dock is only in operation from mid-June to mid-September
• Please note that we do close down without notice due to inclement weather (snow, rain and wind)

Several beautiful hikes are accessible from Moraine Lake, including the Rock Pile, Consolation Lakes and the famous Larch Valley trail. For up-to-date trail information and conditions, please visit the Parks Canada Website.
