How do I get to Moraine Lake Lodge and where is it located?
Moraine Lake Lodge is located alongside the glacier-fed lake in Banff National Park. We are in the Valley of the Ten Peaks, a 20-minute drive away from the Lake Louise village, approximately 1 hour from Banff and 3 hours from Calgary International Airport.

Is the road to Moraine Lake open?
Moraine Lake Road is now closed to personal vehicles year-round. However, guests of Moraine Lake Lodge have exclusive vehicle access as part of their stay. Other visitors can reach the lake by Parks Canada shuttles, Roam Public Transit and commercial buses are permitted from June to mid-October.

Can I drive up Moraine Lake Road?
Overnight guests of Moraine Lake Lodge can drive up Moraine Lake Road and park in our private parking lot located behind the Lodge. Guests of Moraine Lake Lodge will be contacted 30 days prior to their stay via email. This email will include detailed information on how they will access Moraine Lake Road.

Is there parking at Moraine Lake Lodge?
There is designated parking behind the Lodge for hotel guests. Guests of Moraine Lake Lodge are permitted to use their personal vehicle to access the lodge. Guests will be contacted 30 days prior to their stay with information on how to access Moraine Lake road.

Can I bring my motorhome?
Due to the small nature of our parking lot, we are unable to accommodate vehicles larger than 20 feet. We are unable to accommodate motorhomes.

Does Moraine Lake Lodge offer transportation?
As a smaller property, we do not offer shuttle services or transportation to/from the Lodge. We highly recommend renting a vehicle to get the most out of your Rocky Mountain vacation. Guests of Moraine Lake Lodge are permitted to use their personal vehicles to access the lodge. Guests will be contacted 30 days prior to their stay with information on how to access Moraine Lake Road.

How long does it take to get to Moraine Lake Lodge from the Calgary Airport?
Moraine Lake Lodge is approximately 185 km (115 miles) from Calgary International Airport, which typically takes around 2.5 to 3 hours by car. The drive takes you through the stunning scenery of the Canadian Rockies and Banff National Park, making it a scenic and memorable journey.

How long does it take to get to Moraine Lake Lodge from Banff?
Moraine Lake Lodge is located about 90 km (56 miles) from the town of Banff, and the drive typically takes around 1 hour. Guests often combine the drive with stops for hiking, wildlife viewing, or Lake Louise day trips to make the most of their journey.

What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in time on the day of arrival is 3 p.m. MST. Check-out time on the day of departure is 11 a.m. MST.

Can I arrive early at Moraine Lake Lodge on my arrival day?
Our check-in time at Moraine Lake Lodge is 3 p.m. You may arrive earlier than that; however, your room will not be ready until this time. Guests may not arrive at the Lodge earlier than 12 p.m., as we will not have parking available.

Can I stay parked at Moraine Lake Lodge after I check out?
Our check-out time at Moraine Lake Lodge is at 11 a.m. You may stay parked in our lot after departure time until 1 p.m. at the latest. Parking is limited and we only have enough parking spaces available for the number of rooms we have. We must make sure there is enough space for incoming overnight guests.

Can I drive to Lake Louise while staying at Moraine Lake?
Yes, you are able to drive to Lake Louise from Moraine Lake. However, parking is very limited at Lake Louise. You are not able to turn left on Lake Louise Drive, so to access Lake Louise, you will need to drive down to the Lake Louise Village, turn around in a designated space and drive back up Lake Louise Drive. The cost of parking at Lake Louise is $37 CAD per day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Can I take the shuttle to Lake Louise while staying at Moraine Lake?
Yes, you can take the Lake Connector shuttle between Moraine Lake and Lake Louise. You must purchase a ticket on the Parks Canada Shuttle in order to do so. Tickets can be purchased online under the ‘day use’ tab or by phoning 1.877.737.3783. Additional seats will be released at 8 a.m. two days prior to the departure day. Guests of Moraine Lake Lodge are able to avoid driving to the Park and Ride and can access the Lake Connector directly from Moraine Lake. Proof of stay at the Lodge, along with the purchased ticket, must be shown to Parks Canada employees at the shuttle.

Am I limited to when I can use the Shuttle Connector to go to Lake Louise?
As long as you have a valid shuttle ticket for that day, you can get on the Shuttle Connector at any time. The Shuttle Connector operates every 30 minutes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Do the cabins have fireplaces?
Yes. Many cabins include an authentic stone wood-burning fireplace for a cozy mountain atmosphere.

Do we have on-site laundry facilities?
Moraine Lake Lodge does not offer laundry facilities; however, there are coin-operated laundry facilities in Lake Louise.

Is wifi and cell reception available?
We do have limited WiFi service available for guests of the Lodge as well as a computer for our guests to use.
Due to our remote location, there is no cell reception at Moraine Lake. Three kilometres down the road towards Lake Louise, you start to gain cellular reception. We also have a guest phone available. -
Is Moraine Lake Lodge wheelchair accessible?
Due to the natural terrain and unique location of Moraine Lake Lodge, our property is not wheelchair accessible. Guests with mobility needs should be aware that pathways, cabins, and outdoor areas may be challenging to navigate.

Can I request a room with a view of Moraine Lake?
All of our rooms at Moraine Lake Lodge offer views of Moraine Lake and the surrounding mountains, though the perspective varies by room. While we cannot guarantee specific room numbers, every stay provides a stunning connection to the natural beauty of Banff National Park.

Does Moraine Lake Lodge have spa services or hot tubs?
Moraine Lake Lodge does not offer on-site spa services or hot tubs. However, our team can refer you to these services in the area.

I’m staying at the Lodge. Can my family or friends drive up Moraine Lake Road to visit me?
No, access to Moraine Lake Road via private vehicle is only available to registered guests of Moraine Lake Lodge. 30 days prior to arrival, guests will receive information on how to access Moraine Lake Road. This access information cannot be shared with non-guests. Moraine Lake Lodge’s parking lot is very small and only has enough parking spaces for the number of rooms we have.

Are children allowed?
Our Lodge is thoughtfully curated to provide a serene, sophisticated retreat tailored for couples. As such, the majority of our guest rooms feature a single king bed and are designed to accommodate a maximum of two guests. To preserve the tranquil ambiance in the lodge, all guests must be 16 years of age or older to access any area of the lodge or guest rooms.
For families seeking accommodations, our sister property, Cathedral Mountain Lodge, offers spacious rooms suitable for up to four guests, welcoming children aged 8 and above.

Are pets allowed?
Moraine Lake Lodge is not a pet-friendly property.

Is smoking allowed at the lodge?
Moraine Lake Lodge is a smoke-free property; however, if guests do smoke, please smoke in an area away from the cabins and the main lodge.

Does Moraine Lake Lodge host large groups, private events and weddings?
Moraine Lake Lodge is a small property and so we do not have private facilities for hosting weddings, receptions or group events.

Do you have in-room refrigeration?
Moraine Lake Lodge generates its own electricity. As a result, we have a limited supply of power and cannot offer in-room refrigeration.

I’m celebrating a special occasion during my stay. Can my commissioner, photographer, makeup artist, hair stylist or other vendor drive up Moraine Lake Road?
No, access to Moraine Lake Road via private vehicle is only available to registered guests of Moraine Lake Lodge. Vendors must use the Parks Canada Shuttle or organize a private taxi or commercial vehicle to access the Lodge.

I want to hike Paradise Valley during my stay. Can I park my car at the Paradise Valley Trailhead to use when I exit the hike? Or, can I drive down and start my hike from there?
Yes, guests of Moraine Lake Lodge are permitted to park at the Paradise Valley trailhead. Proof of stay must be displayed on the dash of your vehicle.

I am taking a private shuttle to the Lodge and not using my parking space. Can I give my parking space to someone else?
The parking lot at Moraine Lake Lodge is only for registered Lodge guests. Moraine Lake Road is gated and the access information shared with guests cannot be given to others not staying at the Lodge. We do not have the resources to monitor multiple users of the parking lot and access to the road. All vehicles are registered upon arrival.

Do I need a Parks Pass, and how do I get one?
All visitors in Canada’s National Park system must have a valid parks pass for the duration of their stay. Passes can be purchased ahead of arrival online, at visitor centres in Lake Louise, Banff and Jasper or at the Park gates outside of Banff. Please check the Parks Canada website for additional information.

Does my Parks Canada Discovery Pass include my shuttle ticket?
Your Discovery Pass entrance fee does not serve as a shuttle ticket and your shuttle ticket does not serve as a Discovery Pass. The Discovery Parks Pass must be purchased separately.
